At the midnight of today, I received an urgent message from some of our fellow Nigerian students in Akure, informing me that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had conducted a raid and arrested several Nigerian students at Signatures Elixir, Alagbaka, and other areas in Akure, Ondo State. Upon receiving this distressing news, I, Comrade Oluwarotimi Tobiloba Joshua (JOSH), Chairman of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Joint Campus Committee (JCC) Ondo Chapter, immediately mobilized and intervened.
Thanks to the collective efforts and the unwavering support of our comrades, to the glory of God, the students who were unjustly detained were released and set free. This success stands as a testament to our resilience and commitment to protecting the rights and dignity of every Nigerian student.
I extend my heartfelt gratitude to all those who stood in solidarity with us during this critical time. Your presence and support were instrumental in securing the freedom of our fellow students. Special thanks go to Comrade Surprise Omotoso, the former Chairman of NANS JCC Ondo, whose leadership and dedication were invaluable. I also acknowledge and appreciate the efforts of other notable persons ALADE abayomi old man, Comr Adegoke Naheem Ademola and others who joined us in taking this bold step to be the voice of the voiceless.
A special mention and profound gratitude go to Mr. Oluyemi Fasipe (Yemie Fash), the Social Influencer and Activist, whose influential voice and unwavering support significantly bolstered our efforts. Your commitment to justice and the well-being of our students has been truly inspiring.
We also appreciate other personalities and allies who came through to support us during this trying time. Your solidarity has proven crucial in advocating for the rights of our students and ensuring their swift release.
Furthermore, I would like to extend our appreciation to the EFCC for listening to us and engaging in constructive dialogue during the course of our conversation. It is through such cooperation and mutual understanding that we can address concerns and work towards a more just and equitable society.
This incident underscores the importance of unity and vigilance within our student community. We must remain steadfast in our mission to advocate for justice and to safeguard the rights of every Nigerian student. The arbitrary arrest and harassment of students are unacceptable and must be condemned in the strongest terms. We call upon the relevant authorities to ensure that due process is followed and that the rights of students are respected.
As we move forward, let us continue to stand together, united by our shared commitment to justice and equity. Our strength lies in our unity, and together, we will continue to fight for the rights and welfare of every Nigerian student.
Thank you all once again for your solidarity and support.
In Unity and Struggle,
