The job of the President is to head the Executive Arm of Governmentin synergy with the Will of the People through the National Assembly (the true Seat of Government) under the supervision of the LAW (the Judiciary).
The Executive includes, the Presidency and the Public Service. Mr. Presidents’ job is to manage the Public Service for effective service delivery on behalf of the people of Nigeria. The reason why he takes his budget to the NAss before executing such on behalf of the people, is because the power to operate government is entirely with the people as represented by the National Assembly and not the President.
So when the President in his usual manner of seeking to take glory where labour has not been expended, made the very immature decision to remove subsidy and devalue the Naira concurrently without recourse to the National Assembly, without a laid down plan of action approved by the people, without a consideration of his actions on the people, he committed an impeachable offense. In a sane country with a functional, intelligent, independent, uncompromised and honest Legislature, such an action would have come with punitive consequences.
The President acted outside the bounds of his powers and proves his incompetence to bring Nigerians to a better place of wealth and prosperity, and even when a policy had not been approved through consultation with the people, we all as citizens accepted the omnipotence of his “possession” (as he has himself acknowledged that he was possessed when he took such an action without recourse to proper counsel) as it is a gods madness. His acknowledgement of the error of his actions in prematurely acting and bringing Nigeria to the brink of destruction, is also a valid reason to impeach him and ask him to take responsibility for his recklessness.
The value of the damage done to the economy and to our health, wealth and peace as ordinary hardworking citizens, is yet to be fully known. The years ahead will tell.
