The Deputy Governor of Cross River State, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey, during the weekend graced the wedding ceremony of Blessing Eyakenyi and Olumuyiwa Adewumi in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. The bride, daughter of the Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Her Excellency, Sen. Akon Eyakenyi, was joined in matrimony with her beloved in an event that brought together an impressive array of dignitaries from across the nation.
The wedding was a colorful and vibrant affair, attended by the crème de la crème of society. The celebration saw the attendance of several high-profile political leaders, including the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno with his wife, and his predecessor, former Governor Udom Emmanuel, Deputy Governors of Ekiti State, Zamfara State, Delta, Abia, and Edo State, amongst others. A representative of the First Lady of Nigeria and various senators also made notable appearances.
The event’s grandeur was matched only by the joy and happiness evident on the faces of the newlyweds, Blessing and her spouse, Olumuyiwa, as they celebrated their union.
Guests were treated to a memorable celebration filled with heartfelt speeches, music, games by the Masters of Ceremonies, exquisite cuisines, making it a day to remember for all in attendance. The convergence of such a distinguished guest list further highlighted the strong bonds of friendship and respect among Nigeria’s political elite.
Speaking at the Uyo International Christian Worship Centre, the Founder of Insight Bible Church and Officiating Minister at the wedding, Dr. Sylvanus Ukafia, who was supported by an array of Archbishops, Bishops and other Pastors, charged the couple to live by the biblical provisions for marriage if they wanted to succeed. He urged men to love their wives in the same sacrificial manner that Jesus Christ had loved the church while calling on women to submit to their own husbands completely as prescribed by the Bible.
The happy couple, surrounded by family and friends, radiated joy and love throughout the ceremony. Their wedding was not only a testament to their commitment to each other but also a what the Master of Ceremonies described as a union of the South-South and the South-West Nigeria.
