The Caretaker Committee Chairman of Port Harcourt Local Government Area (Mayor of Port Harcourt) Honourable Ezebunwo Ichemati has paid a visit to the Eze Epara Rebisi XII (Paramount Ruler of Port Harcourt) HRM Eze Barrister Uche Isaiah Elikwu.
The Mayor during the visit, Saturday evening, said he came to pledge his total loyalty and seek the blessings of His Royal Majesty Eze Uche Isaiah Elikwu.
“Your Majesty, as a son of a renowned traditionalist, Late Chief A.N Ichemati, it is only natural I give honour to the throne of my forefathers and as a custodian of the land and as the mouth piece of the gods and ancestors, I have come as a son of Rebisi with my team to not only pledge our total allegiance to your throne but to also seek your blessings. “I and my team already have the blessings of the government and without that of the land, we cannot move forward which is why we are here to seek your blessings.”
Honourable Ichemati said the visit was the first for him and his team before they would kickstart governance which was why the governor appointed them.
He disclosed to the Royal Majesty that the CTC being chaired by him has a lot to offer to the people of Rebisi Kingdom and the people of Port Harcourt City Local Government Area in general and would seek the partnership of the traditional rulers council to actualise them.
“Your Majesty, we were newly inaugurated and this is our first official outing before we kickstart the duties for which the governor appointed us.
“Your Majesty, I have with me, my exco members and we have a lot to offer the people of Port Harcourt City Local Government and Rebisi Kingdom. “Part of which, next week, we will be kick-starting our blue-print which is massive empowerment that is the priority of the government.
He said he would ensure that there is peace and stability in the length and breadth of the local government area, which is the priority of Governor Siminalayi Fubara, working hand-in-glove with the traditional rulers of the LGA.
In his response, HRM Eze Barrister Uche Isaiah Elikwu, The Eze Epara Rebisi XII (Paramount Ruler of Port Harcourt) congratulated the Mayor and his team on their appointments and advised them to continue to seek the face of God who all powers come from, and give total loyalty to His Excellency Siminalayi Fubara, the Governor of Rivers State who found them worthy to serve the people at this point in time.
Honourable Ezebunwo Ichemati was accompanied during the visit by the leader of the Simplified Movement in Port Harcourt Local Government Area and Commissioner for Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Engineer Charles Amadi who led other leaders and members of the Simplified Movement in Port Harcourt to the Royal Father’s palace.
His Royal Majesty was joined by members of his council of traditional rulers like; Eze Chimezie Okabie, Eze Innocent Aka, Eze Okechukwu Abbey and others to receive the Mayor.
High point of the visit was the prayer from the Royal Father for the CTC administration being led by Honourable Ezebunwo Ichemati to succeed and at the expiration of their tenure remain unforgettable in the hearts of the people because of the pro-people service rendered when the opportunity was given.
