Golden Oldies is remembering Nigerian highlife singer, and guitarist Fatai Rolling Dollar on his ldeath today (22 July 1927 – 12 June 2013). He was an exponent of the Native thumb piano (Agidigbo), Veteran of West African Folk Music, who in his 64 year career has mentored some of the most successful musicians in West Africa’s history such as Ebenezer Obey & who influenced others like King Sunny Ade, Fela Kuti & many more.
Rolling Dollar was known for his verve & love on the guitar. His zest for life and energy, even in old age, was a marvel to all who watch him perform. Fatai Rolling Dollar’s top songs: Beleke, Easy Motion Tourist, Omo Lere Aiye, Eko Akete, Sisi Jaiye Jaiye, Feso Jaiye, To Ba Fe Mo Dollar, Won kere si Number Wa. A pioneer and a legendary Nigerian musician. He died on June 12, 2013, at the age of 86.
