1. Don’t send your CV or any other document in word doc format. Send in PDF
2. Don’t send that CV if it is not tailored to the position* sought or advertised
3. Don’t send that CV without a strong cover letter, even if it was not requested.
4. Don’t send that cover letter as an attachment, use the e-mail space.
5. Don’t send that e-mail if your e-mail address is not official
6. Don’t send that cold mail If you have not researched the recipient (Professor) and mentioned how your research interest intercepts with his/her’s
7. Don’t apply to that school If you have not find out about the availability of your research interest in that Institution.
8. Don’t ask for funding when you are sending your cold mail. If there’s funding the PI will always mention when he/she finds you fit.
9. Don’t forward your docs if they are not in one PDF
10. Don’t send out that SOP if:
– it does not have four (4) purposeful paragraphs as follows:
i). Your research Interest
ii). Academic Background and applicable skills
iii). The cogent reason for choosing that particular University and who *(the Professor/team)* you will be working with, and
iv). Your post graduation plans
11. Don’t include Irrelevant information or exaggerate your qualifications.”
