Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH) has hosted students of Junior Course 97 of the Department of Land Warfare, Armed Forces Command and Staff College Jaji (AFCSC), Kaduna State.
Welcoming the officer students to Headquarters 3 Division, the General Officer Commanding 3 Division Nigerian Army and Commander Operation SAFE HAVEN, Major General AE Abubakar, informed the students that OPSH has fulfilled its responsibility of restoring peace and maintaining law and order within its Joint Operations Area (JOA), in support of civil authority.
The GOC/Comd OPSH, described the theme of the operational visit “Revitalizing Junior Leadership Training in the NA for Enhanced Operational Effectiveness in a Joint Environment” as relevant, providing students with valuable insights and perspectives that will enhance understanding of the challenges faced in combating insecurity on the Plateau, emphasizing the importance of junior commanders in achieving operational goals.
General Abubakar also stated, that the operational visit will afford students the opportunity to understand the operational environment and acquaint them with the challenges and constraints faced within the JOA. He explained further, that OPSH is a people-centric operation which requires the holistic contributions of the people, government, and security agencies in addressing security challenges.
In his remarks, the representative of the commandant AFCSC, Colonel TH Malu, said junior commanders must be operationally trained to carry out their duties effectively on the field. The team leader also added that, ethical and moral training of junior commanders will reawaken their sense of responsibility, thereby helping them in decision making through adequate mentorship while on operational duty.
Delivering the vote of thanks on behalf of the students, Capt I Sani, said students have been equipped with the knowledge of both kinetic and non-kinetic approaches in combating insecurity within OPSH JOA. He disclosed that knowledge gained during the operational visit will be put into good use during their stay in the college.
During the operational visit, the students are expected to visit formations of sister agencies in Plateau State to deepen their knowledge of the complexities inherent in the security architecture of the state.
Highlights of the visit includes presentation of brief on the activities of OPSH, interactive session, presentation of souvenirs, and group photograph.
