RE-ONDO NORTH YOUTHS ALLIANCE’S OPEN LETTER: SETTING THE RECORDS STRAIGHT
We read with dismay the response of the Media Aide to a letter written by a Youth Group expressing its disappointment in the non performance of the Senator since assuming office as the Senator representing Ondo North Senatorial District.
Much as the rebuttal by the said media aide should not have been responded to,but with the alacrity and half-truths deployed, the public may be hoodwinked to believing that all the claimed projects are available across the Senatorial district as alleged by the aide in a bid to be on the good books of his principal.
In a response to the allegation signed by Prince Adeyinka Ajagunna
S.A, media, and communications to Senator Jide ipinsagba, the writer outlined the achievements of the Senator in the last 11 months in office and also claimed that the Senator prioritizes transparency and accountability in the distribution of dividends of Democracy across the constituents that made up the 6 local Government Areas he is representing at the Senate
The Statement also reads; ‘we acknowledge the senator’s commitment to empowering Ondo North youths through various initiatives, including entrepreneurship training, education support, and job creation.
He continued by outlining all the intervention by the Senator in the Senatorial district vis a vis:-
Fertilizer distribution:
Palliatives distribution across the Senatorial district.
The statement also captured the Constituency allowance which the writer claimed equal allocation of projects across the 6 local Government Areas that made up Ondo North Senatorial district
It is also contained in the writeup that Amnesty program slots were given to Selected people across the 6 Local Government Areas on established criteria
While we may not want to puncture the said submissions regarding such ‘interventions’ thinking they could have been distributed in another clime,we are surprised that Owo and Ose local governments Areas could be listed as among the beneficiaries.
As a representative of the people in the Upper chamber, one expects the media aide to the Senator to list who and who benefitted from such interventions especially from Owo and Ose Local Government local Areas.
Knowing that the Senator is less than a year in office,we believe there are still a lot of benefits that his constituents especially from Owo/Ose can still benefit from,we are however disappointed that his aide has resorted to peddling unverified achievements all in a bid to polish the image of his master. It is commonly said that a chicken that will grow to become a cock can be spotted the day it is hatched.
Since democracy is all about the people, Senator Jide Ipinsagba should not make the people who stayed in the sun for hours to elect him regret their actions. The public is in the know of the various constituency allowances that have been released to senators and how his colleagues have used them for the benefits of their constituents without any element of disparity.
The Senator should not be told that the people are facing a lot of economic hardships presently and as the representative of the people,he should not be forced to come to the aid of the people to lessen their economic pains.
It is not only appalling but disheartening that the Senator has concentrated his interventions only in only Akoko towns. On tape,we have the clips of him commissioning hospitals and other facilities whereas Owo and Ose local governments Areas are left unattended to. It’s indeed too early to judge or question his stewardship, we still hope that he will turn a new leave and look towards Owo/Ose axis as part of his Senatorial district
As we close,we wish to remind the Senator that the late governor, Arakunrin Akeredolu, being an Owo man had more than enough opportunities to make an Owo man a senator. But for him and believing in justice and equity,he fought tooth and nail to ensure Senator Jide Ipinsagba was made a senator. It will amount to gross ingratitude if this is how the Senator will compensate the late governor and his people.
It is not too late to address this holistically and do the needful, else, the day of reckoning will surely come.
