Meet  Sunny Neji

Born on October 24, 1965 in Lagos to Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Neji, Sunny, the youngest of five kids (three boys, two girls) had his primary education between 1972 and 1978 in Ogoja, Cross River State, his home town.

He completed his secondary education at Government College, Ikorodu, Lagos in 1984 and proceeded to Yaba college of Technology where he obtained a Diploma in fashion design.

Sunny Neji’s active involvement with music began at an early stage. His parents’ love for music and his ol’ man’s collection of classic records provided the initial tonic. Sunny Neji released his debut album titled “Captain” in the year 1991, and has released many hits and top selling albums since.

“Oruka” (wedding band) is one hit amongst others, which can be referred to as a timeless classic as it became an unofficial wedding song in Nigeria. Truly as predicted, over the next couple of years the “Unchained” album, blew up to become one of the most celebrated albums in recent times.

These developments set the pace for some of the great milestone achievements that marked the artiste”s career, like being chosen as the icon of Obudu Cattle Ranch in Cross River State Nigeria, GLO Ambassador, CHI  Ambassador, Nigerian Road safety special Marshal, KORA award winner for the Best West African Artiste in 2005,  COSON song of the decade winner (Oruka), State honor from the Cross River state Government, a United Nations Peace Ambassador just to mention a few.
