Cultist is a menace that have bedevilled our higher institutions. It is rampant in higher institutions in the Southern region of the country. Many young prospects have died without enriching the world with their gift, due to cultism.
The first cultist group in Nigeria is the Pyrates confraternity. It started in the year 1952 at University College Ibadan. Seven students (called magnificent seven) came together to form it. They are; Wole Soyinka, Ikpehare Aig-Imoukhuede, Sylvanus Egbuche, Pius Oleghe, Nathaniel Oyelola, Muyiwa Awe, Ralph Okpara. With Wole Soyinka the Capon Blood (the leader of the fraternity).
