On April 3, 2024, the Association of Ekiti Local Government Students Union President (AELOGSUP) responded to the invitation of the Director General on community communication in person of Mrs. Mary Oso Omotosho.
During the meeting, several key discussions and insights were shared. Mrs. Omotosho began by expressing gratitude for AELOGSUP’s response to her invitation, highlighting the pivotal role of students in governance. She emphasized the necessity of involving students in grassroots initiatives, which AELOGSUP represents, for inclusive governance.
During the meeting, Mrs. Omotosho elaborated on various youth and student-focused initiatives implemented by the state government, including poultry training schemes and agribusiness programs. She commended the Governor’s efforts in advancing the state and urged AELOGSUP representatives to collaborate effectively with the government to ensure the benefits of initiatives reach all students at the grassroots.
Addressing the union, Mrs. Omotosho urged proactive participation of all the students in state opportunities to prevent external exploitation and emphasized the significance of the government’s outreach to AELOGSUP, indicating that the narratives of governance in Ekiti state have changed from the randomized control and enjoy mutual importance.
In conclusion, Mrs. Omotosho stressed the importance of unity among student unions for sustainable development and prosperity, urging AELOGSUP to serve as ambassadors for their fellow students while fulfilling their academic responsibilities as everyone looks forward to how things will turn out for them and pray they will be successful.
In gratitude, Comrade Cosmas Kehinde, acting chairman of AELOGSUP, thanked Mrs. Omotosho for the opportunity to engage, lauding her efforts in establishing a platform for consultation. He expressed support for the government’s initiatives and pledged AELOGSUP’s full cooperation when called upon.
Following their meeting with the Director General on Community Communication, the Student Presidents proceeded to the office of the Commissioner of Youth Development to extend their gratitude for his commitment to supporting and uplifting the younger generations in the state.
In his remarks, the Honorable Commissioner commended the union for their dedication and initiatives, expressing his unwavering support for the advancement of the association. He pledged to engage with the union in future endeavors, emphasizing his commitment to fostering development and growth within the student community.
