At ward 10 of Esan West Local Government Area, the Executive Chairman, Hon. Collins Aigbogun, Rt.Hon. Marcus Onobun, Rt. Hon. Joe Edionwele and other PDP leaders, received a group of decampees from the APC. The decampees, who were led by Hon. Egbor a former youth leader in the APC, had hitherto been members of the APC, but they have now pitched their tent with the ruling party PDP.
Addressing the decampees, the Executive Chairman expressed his delight at their decision to join the PDP. He said that the PDP is a party of the people, and that it is committed to the welfare and development of the people at the grassroots. He assured the decampees that their decision to join the PDP would not be regrettable, as the party has many programmes and policies that would benefit them and their communities.
The Executive Chairman also commended the decampees for their courage and political sagacity. He said that their coming over to the PDP would further strengthen the party and give it more impetus to deliver on its mandate.
In his response, Hon. Egbor former youth leader APC thanked the Executive Chairman and the PDP members for welcoming them with open arms. He said that they had carefully considered the political situation in the LGA, and had come to the conclusion that the PDP is the party that has the interest of the people at heart. Siting the commissioning/Handing over of Illeh Federal Medical Center as an example. He assured that they would work tirelessly to ensure the victory of the PDP in all elections.
The event was well attended by leaders and members of the PDP, who celebrated the entry of the decampees with music and dance. It was a moment of political consolidation for the PDP in the LGA, and a mark of the growing confidence in the party’s ability to deliver on its promises.
