Rebel Wilson has candidly opened up about her past relationship with food and her brief experience with Ozempic.
In promotion of her new memoir, Rebel Rising, the 44-year-old Australian actress spoke to The Sunday Times about the details ahead of its 4 April release. Wilson, who changed her name from Melanie to Rebel, touched on the book topics, including how she used food as a coping mechanism, especially growing up around her late father, who she claims to have had an abusive relationship with.
She revealed how she tried Ozempic during her weight-loss journey. Ozempic helps produce insulin and lowers the amount of sugar in blood.
Speaking to The Sunday Times, Rebel said “Someone like me could have a bottomless appetite for sweets, so I think those drugs can be good.” Rebel also said that she is no longer using the drug.
During the same interview, Rebel said that no one except her mother was happy about it, adding, “Basically no one apart from my mom wanted me to lose weight. People thought Iād lose my pigeonhole in my career, playing the fat funny character, and they wanted me to continue in that.”
Rebel also mentioned that the idea of using the drug was initially suggested by a doctor to increase her chance of success at in-vitro fertilization (IVF).
Wilson had earlier stated in an interview that she had dedicated the year 2020 to fitness, and her mental and physical health.
Rather than addressing her feelings head on, the Pitch Perfect star said she would gravitate toward sweet treats as an aid.
āI wasnāt dealing with my emotions properly, I was just stuffing my face and holding on to them,ā she told the outlet.
Since 2020, Wilson has been on a weight loss journey with the actress revealing sheās lost 80 pounds in four years. The comic utilised several different methods, including a brief stint on Ozempic, the diabetes drug that has increased in popularity for its weight loss effects.
Rebel Wilson was earlier in the news as she claimed that her former co-star and comedian, Sacha Baron Cohen was a massive as**ol*. Rebel mentioned that she would be detailing her experience of sharing a set with Cohen in her upcoming memoir, Rebel Rising. Sacha Baron Cohen has denied the claims in a recent statement.
