1. On approaching a roundabout, remember to use
Mirror – Blind Spot – Signal –
Manoeuvre at all stages, decide as early as possible which exit you intend to take and get into the correct lane and reduce your speed. On reaching the roundabout, you should give way to traffic on your right unless road markings indicate otherwise. Watch out for the traffic already on the traffic roundabout.
2. Always obey road markings and signs which have been placed at roundabouts.
3. When taking the first exit –
a) signal left and approach in the left-hand lane; and
b) keep to the left on the roundabout and continue signaling left to leave.
4. When taking any intermediate exit –
a) select the appropriate lane on approach to and on the roundabout, signaling as necessary;
b) stay in this lane until you need to alter course to exit the roundabout; and
c) signal left after you have passed the exit before the one you want.
5. When taking the last exit or going full circle-
a) signal right and approach in the right-hand lane;
b) keep to the right on the roundabout until you need to change lanes to exit the
roundabout; and
c) signal left after you have passed the exit before the one you want.
When there are more than three lanes at the entrance to a roundabout, use the most
appropriate lane on approach and through it.
