In a bid to address the growing issue of skilled and semi-skilled artisans and technicians abandoning their trades for the allure of politics or other pursuits, General Ohunyeye(Rtd) has stepped forward with a bold promise in Ondo State. Speaking at Bolorunduro, the headquarters of Ondo East Local Government, the General vowed to patronize carpenters, bricklayers, electricians, plumbers, tilers, drivers, and mechanics in the state.
During his address to party leaders on Monday 18 March, 2024, General Ohunyeye expressed deep concern over the exodus of skilled individuals from their professions into less sustainable ventures, such as becoming Okada riders. He outlined plans to organize these workers into cooperatives and trade groups and ensure government patronage for their services.
The General’s commitment to supporting party members and leaders with a fair share of patronage once in power aims to tackle the prevalent issue of neglect post-election. By prioritizing the empowerment and support of those with valuable skills, General Ohunyeye envisions a future where artisans and technicians in Ondo State receive the acknowledgment and assistance they rightfully deserve.
