Hope for ondo-South PROMISE OF electricity IN IGBOKODA,UGBO NLA, AND Environs
In a landmark development poised to transform the socio-economic terrain of Igbokoda, Ugbo Nla and other adjoining Ilaje communities, the Honourable Commissioner representing Ondo State on the board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Hon Thompson Otito Atikase recently conducted a comprehensive inspection of the ongoing electric power project. This initiative aims to breathe life into the long-dormant regions of Okitipupa to Igbokoda, Ugbo Nla, and its environs through the installation of a 33/11 KV transmission line.
Hon Atikase hinted that the project, which commenced recently, is nearing its completion and is scheduled to be inaugurated by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in April 2024. At the heart of this electrification effort lies the electric power substation strategically located at Ode Erinje, which has already been completed.
An impressive feat in infrastructure development, approximately 45 transformers have already been installed to ensure the efficient distribution of power across the targeted areas. For over 15 years, the communities of Igbokoda, Ugbo Nla, and other neighbouring Ilaje communities have grappled with the debilitating effects of darkness, hindering progress, and stifling growth. However, with the impending restoration of electricity, a newfound sense of optimism permeates these once-neglected regions.
The implications of this electrification endeavour extend far beyond the mere flicker of light; it heralds a renaissance of economic and social prosperity. With reliable access to electricity, businesses can thrive, education can flourish, and healthcare can be elevated to unprecedented levels. The resumption of electric power will catalyze job creation, attract investments, and bridge the gap between urban and rural development.
Moreover, the impact on everyday lives can not be overstated. Families will no longer have to rely on hazardous alternatives for lighting and cooking, while students can study without the constraints of erratic power supply. Community centres, markets, and streets will be illuminated, which will invariably guarantee security and vitality, which have long eluded these areas.
As the dawn of electrification beckons upon the target communities, it is a validation of the immutable commitment of visionary leaders and the collective resilience of its people. Beyond the wires and transformers lies the promise of a brighter future, where darkness yields to progress and hope is rekindled in the hearts of all. Let us embrace this historic moment with optimism and determination, for the journey towards development has just begun.
