Gabon’s Foreign Affairs Minister announces that the country has been reinstated into the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS), after it was suspended following the army coup that overthrew President Ali Bongo Ondimba on August 30, 2023.
In the process, the Gabonese Minister of Foreign Affairs welcomed these decisions and sent his warm thanks to the heads of state and government of the region.
The next step is reintegration into the African Union. ECCAS will send an advocacy mission to the AU and the United Nations to explain the process of readmission of Gabon. The press release highlights the “people’s support for the transition process, its inclusiveness and its peaceful nature.
