INFORMS CORPS MEMBERS IN RIVERS STATE.
Corps have been informed that NYSC exposes them to “training to imbibe the tradition and norms of efficient and effective leadership skills.”
The DG NYSC, Brig Gen YD Ahmed, stated this in Nonwa-Gbam Tai, Rivers State when he visited and addressed the 2024 Batch A Stream 1 Corps Members on camp.
In an address, the DG informed the Corps Members that the essence of making them undergo a regimented lifestyle in camp is to inculcate in them discipline, time management, the tradition and norms of efficient and effective leadership skills.
Continuing, the NYSC helmsman charged the Corps Members to make deliberate effort to personally secure their lives first and foremost, while waiting for the NYSC Scheme and the government to play their own part in ensuring their maximum safety and welfare at all times.
On dress code, Gen Ahmed charged them to observe the Scheme’s dress code by dressing properly at times while they must take Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED), programme very seriously in order to become job and wealth creators instead of paid employment seekers.
He concluded by charging the Corps Members to conduct themselves well in the host community where they will be posted for their Primary Assignment by obeying and respecting the customs and traditions.
Finally, he advised them against illegal and unapproved journeys which has caused great harm to some Corps Members in the past.
Earlier, the Rivers State NYSC Coordinator, Mr. George Mfongang had informed the DG that the Corps Members are in good spirits and doing exceedingly well in imbibing and internalizing the values and ideals of the NYSC Scheme.
The DG was accompanied to the camp by the Directors – Press & Public Relations, Chief Eddy Megwa, Special Duties, Mrs. Bona Fasakin and NYSC South South Area Office, Alhaji Ladan Baba.
