By Dr. Akeredolu O.N
Mrs. Betty Anyanwu Akeredolu was quick to tell Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, who visited Ondo State to console the good people of Sunshine State about the demise of the former governor, that Governor Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State paid for Aketi’s body trip back from Germany. However, the former first lady failed to also inform the President of Nigeria that she was busy struggling with power while her husband was in a coma and left him to die without his wife beside him. Has Ada Oweri forgotten that she encumbered herself with the 25 million naira sent by Mrs Oluremi Tinubu for aged people in Ondo State, in which Aketi later died 3 days after she openly attacked Ade Adetimehin for the money?*
Mrs. Akeredolu should also inform the people of Ondo State about the total amount collected by her family from the state government to give Aketi a befitting burial despite current hardships if the entire state wouldn’t stone her.
Anyone who knew Ondo State’s former number family very well would never love them because they are a bunch of insincere individuals. I’m not surprised that the animal in human flesh called Dr. Doyin Odebowale could say a lot about his former boss’s weakness, which some of us had noticed before Aketi’s demise. No doubt, this Ijebu Remo-born vagabond who came to Ondo State through the dictates of Aketi was among the few individuals who were close to the departed Owo hailed legal luminary. However, he came on board recently, not only to belittle himself and his acclaimed LASU senior lecturer wife by narrating his uncurtailed libido in rampage while serving as Aketi’s personal aide but also described his erstwhile boss as a weakling, judging from how the wife was too powerful at the expense of the state that elected Aketi to be in charge.
In a swift response, the uncultured and power-drunk former first lady of Ondo State, Mrs. Betty Anyanwu Akeredolu, in the program book for Aketi’s state burial at the front page used what should be a sober reflection of her life after the departing soul of her husband of over four decades but this Oweri woman took her pound of flesh from Dr. Odebowale. She indirectly described him as a wife-beater, which was why he couldn’t comprehend the love that Aketi had for her. I should let Ada Oweri know that if what we all saw in Ondo State between the first family is what love is all about, the majority of people will prefer not to be in love with anyone. It was obvious that the former first man and woman in Ondo State were just enduring themselves without any genuine compassion for each other. Or was it love that made Mrs. Akeredolu expose her husband’s precarious condition to the world, just to get at Mrs. Wunmi Ademosu, popularly known as Bunmi Alagbo of Alagbaka during Aketi’s era?
In the same vein, when the entire state was involved in prayers for the sick Aketi then in an undisclosed German hospital, Mrs. Betty Anyanwu Akeredolu was nowhere to be found. Rather, she was busy with her pet projects, which many Ondo State indigenes believed to be special purpose vehicles SPV (courtesy of Atiku’s saga) for looting our commonwealth. Should we also call that an act of unique love among these bi-tribal lovers? The last straw that broke the camel’s back was her refusal to follow Arakunrin to the last trip to the German hospital where he finally died. This jezebelic woman was encumbered with the fight for 25 million naira sent for aged people just like other states, insisting she should be the one in charge of its distribution, not the party chairman, Mr Ade Adetimehin. Meanwhile, Aketi was already in a coma, but the acclaimed love between them made Mrs. Akeredolu impervious to the pitiable condition of Arakunrin then.
Following the passage of Aketi to the world beyond, the untold pain of Aketi’s unreasonable family members became obvious. Their attitudes so far haven’t shown they are really mourning the departed Arakunrin; rather, they have been using every available opportunity to get at the current governor of the state. No doubt, she influenced H.E. Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s emergence as the deputy governor when they had issues with his predecessor, H.E. Agboola Ajayi. There is a fact with Aketi and his family; they never loved anyone but looked for morons cum robots they would be using for the unbridled exhibition of ego. Their preference for this current governor as the deputy then didn’t come from love but from his gentle and unassuming disposition that made him seem like someone who would not challenge their excesses. Honestly, he tolerated them to the last minute in which the masses of Ondo State had to fight for the current governor.
Ordinarily, the statement traceable to Mama Betty Anyanwu Akeredolu that Mr Sanwo-Olu paid for her husband’s body’s trip back to Nigeria isn’t bad, but her intention is obvious, aiming to malign the incumbent governor. The question is this: if the condition was so bad that Governor Sanwo-Olu had to pay for the flight of the ex-governor who died in active service to the state, then what happened to several hundred million naira, monthly collected by Aketi’s family as security votes during Aketi’s sickness? Can the family members also tell Sunshine people the amount received by them from the state government to give a state’s burial for the remains of the former governor in Owo?
It’s obvious she remains a power monger with uncontrollable lust like Mrs Grace Mugabe of Zimbabwe, Mrs. Turai Yaradua of Nigeria, and Mrs. Simone Gbagbo of Ivory Coast. There is an undisputed fact on the ground that Aketi’s era and that of his wicked family members have gone forever. There is no amount of propaganda from these drowning individuals that can change the mindsets of our people about them. May we not have a governor like Aketi again, amen.
