Part 2

Knowledge and honesty always prevails. And knowledge is not what it is not and there is no error in knowledge. There is nothing that is above knowledge. It’s true that knowledge rules this planet.
Hence, since the beginning of the existence of this planet, knowledge control whatever you can see. Plato have said the truth that leadership has to be given to the gifted and knowledgeable people. So, leadership is a gift giving to few in any society around the world.
In a book launching (“Court and Politics” by Dr. Umar Ardo) in Abuja last week the former President of Nigeria Dr. General Olusegun Obasanjo sent cautionary words to the current generation of leadership about “changing of the system from Presidential to Parliamentary”. H/E Obasanjo says that “there is nothing wrong with the Presidential System” but inability to practice the rules and principles of the game accordingly is the problem.
And again, one of the country’s elder and leader of Arewa Consultative Forum Professor Ango Abdullahi sent another getter-y message for the current generation of political leadership in Nigeria to “go back to the drawing board” meaning to recalculate and assess how this country has been govern by civilians for the past 25 years and critically evaluate the movement of the country; progression or retrogression? This must be done!
The both respected two elder state-men in their early 90 years of age have tremendous amount of experience in life, knowledge, leadership especially the former President Obasanjo that led this country twice; as military leader and democratically elected President for eight years. He has huge amount of respect from around the world having the opportunity to led the most populous black nation in the world. Nigeria is a lucky country having a leader like Olusegun Obasanjo and is still around.
This writing is on the same page with H/E Olusegun Obasanjo for cautionary words against change from Presidential System to another one. This writing said it last week on the same issue. Senegal, Tanzania, Cameroon and many African countries that got independence for the past more than 60 years ago and practices the Paliamentary System of Government and they never change to another one.
Liberal Democracy (Presidential System) is not expensive it’s the operators of the system made it to be expensive. Even in the American practice of the system it’s the operators that made it not expensive. The whole issue is about how you cut cost of the system in accordance with the country’s earnings.
So, the problem with Nigeria has been that the serial bad class of leadership. A corrupt, none patriotic, egocentric and leadership with no mission, vision and lack of serialized strategic planning on how to make the country great among the 30 global economic emerging nations.
On the other hand, the Chairman of the Arewa Consultative Forum Professor Ango Abdullahi was the former Vice Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) is a respected scholar and intellectual for over 60 years. He has spoken the truth on how bad this resourceful country is governed, currently and in the past. He has said that in a country that more than “4000 MG of electricity energy cannot be generated” how can the country be developed?
Some of the countries that are mates to Nigeria from 1960 to date such as Saudi Arabia, Malaysia and Indonesia has been as an excellent example in terms of governance and development; politically, economically and socially. Therefore, no one can compare Nigeria with these countries mentioned. But why? The answer is simple. One should make research and see who are their leaders and who are the leaders of Nigeria since independence. Also, India is another example. The country got independence from Britain for the past more than 70 years but despite their huge population and the global political, economic and social shenanigans; India is amongst the global top 10 most vibrant nation.
Conclusively, Nigerian leaders must wake up and imitate some of the world patriotic leaders not rulers. Leaders with vision, mission and knowledge on the global political, economic and social direction of development. So, a strong economy must be tremendously developed. Otherwise, Nigeria and Nigerians will regret especially the future generations yet unborn.
