On Tuesday evening, Distinguished Senator Ajagunla Olubiyi Fadeyi, representing the good people of Osun Central Senatorial District, took center stage as a prominent speaker at a farewell gathering for the outgoing Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Nigeria, His Excellency, Kim Young-Chae and his spouse, Kim Judy. The event, hosted by former Governor of Abia State and Senator representing Abia North Senatorial District, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, drew together esteemed friends, diplomats and government officials.
During the convivial atmosphere, Senator Fadeyi underscored the significance of the night as an occasion to celebrate remarkable individuals contributing to global welfare. He expressed sincere appreciation to the envoys of South Korea, China and Indonesia for their outstanding efforts in strengthening the bonds between their nations and Nigeria.
Senator Fadeyi extended gratitude to Senator Kalu for the invitation, acknowledging the exemplary service of the envoys and looking forward to fostering bilateral relationships among the countries. Ambassador Harahap emphasised the deepened brotherhood between Nigeria and Indonesia, while foreseeing further enhancements.
Ambassador Cui, representing China, expressed happiness for the invitation, highlighting the importance of bilateral relations with Nigeria. He praised the existing love and intimacy between China and Nigeria, urging continued support and trust.
In his brief address, Senator Kalu emphasized that the night was not for lengthy speeches but a heartfelt expression of gratitude towards Ambassador Kim for a job well done. He recounted the honor bestowed upon him during the inauguration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on May 29, 2023.
Ambassador Kim, in response, thanked Senator Kalu for hosting the delightful dinner, noting the significance of the gathering in fostering connections beyond diplomatic duties. The night concluded with warm wishes for Ambassador Kim and his spouse in their future endeavours.
Present at the ceremony were the chairman, Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs and immediate past Governor of Niger State, Senator Abubakar Sani Bello; the vice-chairman, Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs and immediate past Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson and the Vice-chairman, Senate Committee on Communication, Trade and Investment, Senator Olubiyi Fadeyi.
