The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State under the leadership of Sir (Chief) Tony Okocha (JP) Ksc, DSSRS, is growing in leaps and bounds as more groups pledge their support and loyalty to the party and her present leadership.
The State Secretariat of the APC in Rivers State along Aba Road was thronged yesterday, Thursday, 1st February, 2024, by supporters of the party from different Support Groups, including the Conference of APC Ex-Councillors of Rivers State, the Consolidated APC Grassroots Movement (CAGram), the G37 Political Support Group, and the Consolidated APC Support Group.
It could be recalled that a total of forty-eight (48) APC Campaign Support Groups were involved in campaigning and canvassing grassroot support for the successful election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2023 general election in Rivers State.
In their separate solidarity and goodwill messages, the leaders of the various groups took turn after the other to extol the leadership qualities of Sir (Chief) Tony Okocha (JP), which according to them has “repositioned the Rivers APC, and returned her back to the path of winning election”.
Speaking on behalf of the G37 Political Support Group, the National Coordinator of the group, Comrade City Evans thanked the Leader/Chairman of the APC in Rivers State for allowing himself to be used by God to lead Rivers APC from the “wilderness”.
In extolling the leadership qualities of Sir (Chief) Tony Okocha (JP), Comrade City Evans submitted that “You have taken Rivers APC from the hand of Pharoah. We have seen the magic you did for us to cross the red Sea, by making APC to have the majority members in the Rivers State House of Assembly, including all her principal officers”.
Comrade City Evans assured the Leader/Chairman of the APC in Rivers State of their continuous support and unalloyed loyalty as a group.
Hon. Aborlo Stephen, the Youth Leader of the CTC of the APC in Rivers State appreciated the members of the G37 Political Support Group for their support, and urged them to maintain the tempo.
Delivering the solidarity/goodwill message of the Consolidated APC Grassroots Movement (CAGram), on behalf of Hon. Letambari Gborka Ngbuelo (JP), who is the Rivers State Chairman of (CAGram), Engr. Prince Caleb Johnson, the State Secretary of CAGram expressed the sincere gratitude of the group to the Leader/Chairman of the APC in Rivers State for granting them audience amidst his busy and tight schedule.
The group informed the Leader/Chairman of the APC in Rivers State that the main purpose for their visit was to appreciate him and members of the CTC for what they described as “the effective leadership of the party, and the open door policy of the leadership of the APC in Rivers State”, and to thank President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and the National Chairman of the APC, as well as members of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the APC, for the appointment of Sir (Chief) Tony Okocha (JP), as the Chairman of the CTC of the APC in Rivers State on one hand, and as the Rivers State Representative in the Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) on the other hand.
They also used the opportunity to appeal for the support of the leadership of the party in the area of empowerment, while pledging their total support to the leadership of the party, and their commitment towards the success of the party in future elections, stating with the local government election that is expected to hold later in the year.The group presented a letter of appointment to the Leader of the Rivers APC as their Patron.
Speaking to the visiting delegation of CAGram in Rivers State, Hon. Chibike Ikenga, the State Publicity Secretary of the CTC of the APC in Rivers State conveyed the conviction of the leadership of the APC in Rivers State on the capacity of the group. He added that with their large turnout, it leaves no one in doubt of how well grounded they are.
In a related development, the Conference of APC Ex-Councillors in Rivers State, a body of former councillors of the APC in the 23 LGAs in the state were also at the APC State Secretariat to pledge their support and loyalty to the leadership of the party under Sir (Chief) Tony Okocha (JP).
In his presentation, Hon. Temple Kpee, the leader of the Conference of APC Ex-Councillors in Rivers State congratulated Sir (Chief) Tony Okocha (JP), for his dual appointments, describing it as “well deserved, and a due reward for hardwork and diligence”.
The highpoint of the visit was the presentation of a letter of appointment to Sir (Chief) Tony Okocha (JP) as the Patron of the Conference of APC Ex-Councillors in Rivers State, and the presentation of an Award of Excellence, for his effective leadership of the party.
Hon. Temple Kpee, who was full of commendation for the Leader/Chairman of the Rivers APC described him as “a Mentor, and an exceptional leader”, and also informed the Chairman of a Strategic WorkPlan already designed by the Conference of APC Ex-Councillors in Rivers State, which is aimed at galvanizing more grassroot support for the party.
He thanked the Leader/Chairman of the APC in Rivers State for accepting to be the Patron of the Conference of APC Ex-Councillors in Rivers State.
Hon. Sylvester Vidin, the Strategy/Planning Officer of the CTC of the APC in Rivers State, who was a 2-time Councillor, and a former Caretaker Committee Chairman of Gokana LGA thanked the members of the Conference of APC Ex-Councillors in Rivers State for their support and steadfastness.
In his response, Sir (Chief) Tony Okocha (JP) appreciated the Conference of APC Ex-Councillors in Rivers State for the visit, and for the presentation of an Award of Excellence to him. He added that the APC in Rivers State is now one, united, and more stronger, as a political party. stressing that the APC in Rivers State is for the people, and open for everyone.
He added that under his leadership, the principle of “the many the merrier” remains key, and a major driving force behind the many successes recorded by the party within his short time at the helms of affairs of the party.
He also assured them that with their continuous support, the APC in Rivers State will continue to grow and win elections, and take over the government of Rivers State.
Another support group in the state – the Consolidated APC Support Group – one of the recognized APC Campaign Support Groups that worked for the successful election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the just concluded 2023 General Election also came calling on the Leader/Chairman of the APC in Rivers State.
The message of the group was not different from the other groups as delivered by Prince Dickson Cookey-Gam, the leader of the delegation.
It was all about the show of gratitude to Sir (Chief) Tony Okocha (JP), for the drastic turnaround in the fortunes of the party under his leadership, and pledge of continuous support and loyalty to the Leader/Chairman of the APC in Rivers State.
Speaking on behalf of the Leader/Chairman of the APC in Rivers State, Warisenibo Karibi Dan-Jumbo, the Welfare Secretary of the CTC of the APC in Rivers State assured the members of the Consolidated APC Support Group of their inclusion in the affairs of the party at all levels as requested.
He charged them to keep galvanizing grassroots support for the growth of the party, and to continue giving support to the leadership of the party, as according to him, “the party will grow faster when all hands are on deck”.
