Political Democracy is a game of number (the majority are the winners) in both advanced and emerging Democracies. In 57 key elements and principles of Democracy, citizen is number one and the last (not the least) is consensus. Political Democracy has competing values, interest and ambition.
This means that he whoever is given mandate by his people to represent them in the corridor of power he must protect their interest (economic interest, security and social activities as well as tradition, culture, religion, environment and developmental ambition) via whatever means. That’s “Representative Democracy” for you! Constitutional Democracy is a fantastic system especially if rules and principles of the game will be taken care of.
My President Bola Ahmed Tunubu is an experienced Accountant by Profession, a Business Man and Politician. His political history began in the early 1990s to date. And this writing is positively convinced that my President have this country in mind for unity, stability and development as well as positive patriotic approach on how to solve the problems of Nigeria. Hence, Nigeria can be a key player in the political, social and economic interplay on Globalization Policy.
His Excellency President Tunubu seems to be idealistic politician rather than realist. The crisis between Niger’s military junta and ECOWAS is an excellent example. Had it been that he is a realist the crisis could have resulted into full scale war between Niger Republic and other Nations within West African Sub-Region.
In International Politics Idealism practitioners do believes in Consensus, give and take, Negotiation and mediation, strick adherence to United Nations Convention, Peace Agreement, United Nations Charter, International Law, Peace and stability in the World. And President Asiwaju is still on that. He respect elders and intellectuals.
He accepted the advise offered to him by the highly respected Northern elders, Ulamas and Traditional Rulers that mediated between Niger Republic and ECOWAS. He avoided using military power to dislodge the current military junta that may make the Northern Nigeria a military battle ground area which can lead to economic crunch, and instability in Nigeria, Niger Republic and other West African Sub-Region. Meaning Using military power will not bring sanity in the region.
Relocation of some key government institutions from Abuja to Lagos.
Lagos was the former Federal Capital of Nigeria prior to independence and after in 1960. But, late former military Head of State Major General Murtala Ramat Muhammad initiated the relocation of the capital to Central Nigeria. The committee he appointed approved the relocation of the capital from Lagos to Abuja due congestion and over crowd nature of Lagos City. And again, former Military Head of State of Nigeria General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida relocated to the New Federal Capital Abuja with a view to ease the activities of the Federal Government and bring Nigerians closer to the Central Government.
Hence, this is normal which use to happens in many parts of the world. Brazil, India is an excellent example and Saudi Arabia; currently building a new capital City worth $.5Trillion which is 8 time larger and bigger than New York City in the USA.
To be continued InshaAllah as follows.
The view point of this writing on the policy of relocation of some key FG Economic Institutions from Abuja to Lagos.
For the attention of my Party APC and President Bola Ahmed Tunubu and the political analysis of the situation.
