Armed men abducted around 45 passengers from three fully loaded 15-seater commercial buses in Orokam along the Otukpo-Enugu Road in Benue state.
The incident occurred around 3:30 pm on Thursday when the armed men ambushed the vehicles and forced drivers at gunpoint to pull over.
Fortunately, an eyewitness and driver managed to escape with passengers by fleeing into the bush.
The armed men targeted commercial buses, possibly aiming for ransom due to the number of passengers.
Negotiations for a ransom, initially set at N15 million per passenger, have reportedly taken place.
The armed men demanded N3 million per passenger, but communication was lost during negotiations.
Security forces, including soldiers, are involved in efforts to locate the kidnapped victims.
Police have not officially confirmed the incident.
