Following controversy surrounding a signed contract with the late singer Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, African TV boss has issued a statement defending the agreement. In a video addressing the public, he clarifies the intent and purpose of the contract.
The African TV boss emphasizes that the contract was not intended to capitalize on Mohbad’s death, but rather to establish a partnership with Aloba for a project honoring his son’s legacy.
While the controversy continues to spark debate online, African TV remains firm in its intention he noted that he has always been supportive to Mohbad’s dad and even when the issue of DNA test came to offered to help and speak out as a journalist because he discovered that Mohbad’s wife was trying to shut people up.
In his words,”When I decided to step into the ‘Justice for Mohbad’ movement, people were already telling wunmi to have a DNA test done. Then Wunmi’s sister came out that if anybody mentioned DNA, she would sue the person, I detected that she wanted to stop people from speaking up so I came out as a journalist to talk about DNA. Nobody has the right to ask Wunmi for a DNA except Mohbad’s family members.
When his dad also said he wanted a DNA, I decided to support him and the issue of foundation started. I wasn’t happy with how people were dragging him so I told him my team would be screening the interviews he would be granting and we advised him not to release any song for now. I was his manager for public relations not for money. I have nothing to do with MOH’s record label or royalties. The foundation we want to create is about giving 25% of whatever comes in to MOH’s family.”
