Popular Nigerian musician, Crown Uzama, a.k.a Shallipopi, has spoken about the immense wealth in the music industry.
The music star in his interview, stated that the wealth in the industry cannot be understood.
While likening the money earned through music to that of the one made from rituals, he noted that even if he were to stop making music, the songs he has already released would continue to generate income for him.
“There is too much money in music that you can never understand at all. Music money is like a ritual.
“Even if you are an artist that just came out one month, provided your song is just big, don’t worry.
“So for me now, I no dey balance anything because I know that music will not stop; even if I stop singing, the songs that I have dropped will continue to give me money.”
Shallipopi also admitted that he is not a “perfect musician”.
He said he is neither a “perfect” singer nor a songwriter but has vibes and ‘street lingual’.
The ‘Elon Musk’ crooner said that was the reason he signed artists who are better than him to his newly-launched record label, Plutomania Records.
Shallipopi said, “I never wanted to sign anybody at first but the thing is that I know people that are better than me at singing.
“I can not sign somebody that I’m better than. I’m not that good at singing but I know how to maintain my sound. I’m not the perfect musician that you will say this guy has a game or crazy voice. I’m not that type of artist. I call myself a vibe artist. I put street lingual in my music that some fans relate with my music.”
He added: “I’m a talker, I’m not a rapper. Talking is my genre of music.”
Speaking on who inspired him as an artiste, he revealed that his colleague, Rema inspired him and other artistes from Edo State to believe in their talents.
He said the ‘Calm Down’ crooner was a beacon of hope to them.
Popular singer, Crown uzama, aka Shallipopi, has revealed that his colleague, Rema inspired him and other artistes from Edo State to believe in their talents.
He said the ‘Calm Down’ crooner was a beacon of hope to them.
The Benin-born singer spoke in a recent episode of The Zero Conditions podcast.
He said, “Benin as a place, none of us get hope to blow. We thought musical stardom was only attainable for Lagos and Abuja residents. We didn’t had the hope that we too could achieve spotlight. It was after Rema came, after D’Prince signed him to Jonzing World, that was when he realised that is also possible for Benin artists to hit stardom. There’s hope. If Rema cross over, we go fit cross over.
“When Rema went to Lagos, we were watching him. We are his day-one fans. He knows. We’ve been following since when he was posting freestyle videos on social to his trap EP to his new height. He was the one who gave us hope that we too can make it.”
Shallipopi rose to fame after releasing his first single titled ‘Elon Musk’.
