In a startling development during the KogiDecides2023 election, the council chairman of Igalamela Local Government Area in Kogi State, JamesOnoja, was reportedly apprehended by security forces. He was found in possession of ammunition and a substantial amount of cash, both concealed within numerous ‘Ghana-must-go’ bags.
These materials were allegedly intended for use in the election. A video circulating online captured the suspects sitting on the ground near an army checkpoint, with both the council chairman and his associates expressing remorse and seeking forgiveness.
As of the time of this report, the Police Public Relations Officer in KogiState, William Ovye, had not provided any official response to inquiries regarding this incident.
