The President Bola Tinubu-led Nigerian government on Tuesday said that its contribution to plug in the revenue generation shortfall in the power sector in the second quarter of 2023 increased from the N36billion to N135.2billion.
This was contained in the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) quarterly report. Noting that on average, the subsidy obligation incurred by the government per month was N45bn in 2023/Q2.
According to the report, during the period, the total revenue collected by all Distribution Companies (DisCos) was N267.8billion out of the N354.61billion that was billed to customers.
