Dr. Abu Temitope Johnson (OD, FNOA, MNOA) was born in the 1980s into the family of Late Chief Samuel Asunmola Abu, the Igbalaye of Ipele land, from the Agah clan of Okeriwo quarters, and Mrs. Omolayo Caroline Abu from Okeila in Okeriwo quarters. Dr. Abu’s roots in Okeriwo quarters run deep, making him an authentic clansman of Okeriwo quarters.
Dr. Abu Temitope Johnson, a highly educated and versatile individual, is a certified optometrist and a fully-fledged medical practitioner, known for his intelligence and brilliance.
His educational journey took him through Saint Stephens Mercy Nursery and Primary School from 1997 to 2002, where he excelled academically and served as Senior Prefect Boy. He achieved distinctions in his School Leaving Certificate Examinations.
From 2002 to 2008, Dr. Abu attended Owo Diocesan Anglican Grammar School, Ipele, where he continued to excel academically and was appointed Senior Prefect Boy. He also displayed his athletic prowess in track and field events, securing victories for his house, the Blue House, in various races.
Between 2010 and 2016, Dr. Abu studied Optometry at the prestigious University of Benin, graduating with outstanding grades and becoming a certified and registered Optometrist.
His professional journey included an Internship Training at the State Hospital Millennium Eyes Centre, Akure, Ondo state in 2018, and his compulsory National Service in Iseyin, Oyo state, in 2019.
Dr. Abu Temitope is an esteemed member of various associations, holding executive positions in many. Notable among them are:
– Owo Local Government Area Student Union (OLGASU), where he served as the OLGASU president, University of Benin chapter, and National Speaker in 2015, receiving recognition for his leadership excellence in 2019.
– National Association of Ipele Students (NAIS), of which he is a pioneer member and served as Financial Secretary for two terms. He also held the position of President from 2013 to 2015, becoming the longest-serving President of the Association to date. He received the Award of BEST LEADER OF THE YEAR in 2022.
– The Owo Youth General Assembly (TOYGA), where he is a founding member and the Interim Secretary, recognized for his dedication and hard work.
Dr. Abu Temitope has contributed his expertise to various medical firms, including Millennium Eyes Foundation, Benjamin Franklin Eyes Foundation, and National Health Foundation. He is also the Chief Executive Officer of Gateway Eye Foundation.
Moreover, Dr. Abu Temitope Johnson is deeply rooted in culture and tradition, holding the title of Olotu Okeriwo of the Egbe Alayere Age Group in Ipele, a position bestowed upon him by divine intervention.
He is happily married to Mrs. Abu Adenike (nee Adediran), and their marriage has been blessed with two lovely daughters.
