Rwanda is set to upgrade its national stadium, Amahoro Stadium, from 25,000 seats to 45,000 seats.
The renovation is expected to be completed next year and will include the main football pitch, a new FIFA-standard warm-up court, a Paralympics Gymnasium, and a Petit Stade that will meet federation Internationale de Basketball (FIBA) and Federation Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB) standards.
The upgrade is part of Rwanda’s efforts to boost its sports infrastructure and attract major sporting events to the country.
Amahoro Stadium is already home to the Rwanda national football team, and the renovation will make it one of the largest and most modern stadiums in the region.
The renovation project is being funded by the Rwandan government and a Chinese construction company.
