Sen Nwebonyi tipped for deputy Majority Leader of the 10th Assembly, emerges Vice Chairman of two Senate committees and member of eleven others

Feelers within the Hallowed Chambers of the National Assembly indicate that Distinguished Senator Onyekachi Nwebonyi may emerge the next Deputy Majority Leader of the 10th Senate following the nomination and clearance of the Deputy Senate Leader, His Excellency Distinguished Senator David Umahi as Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

It’s expected that the formal inauguration of the Ministerial nominees by His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will take place in matter of days following their successful screening and clearance from the National Assembly. 

The inauguration of the new Ministers will ultimately pave the way for Senator Nwebonyi to ascend the position of his mentor and benefactor, His Excellency, Senator David Nweze Umahi who is currently the Deputy Majority Leader of the 10th Senate.

According to the appointment letter personally signed by the Senate Leader, Senator Bamidele Opeyemi, the Senator representing Ebonyi North Senatorial District, Senator Barrister Onyekachi Nwebonyi has been appointed as Vice Chairman Senate Committee on Public Accounts and Water Resources including Membership of eleven other Committees.

The Standing Committees which Senator Nwebonyi is appointed as member are: Aviation, Interior, FERMA, Senate Services, Upstream Petroleum, Solid Minerals, Banking Insurance and other Financial Institutions, Tertiary Institutions and TETFUND, Oil and Gas Host Communities, Police Affairs, Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters, and Constitutional Amendment.

It’s imperative to note that Ebonyi state exported the best crop of legislators to the 10th National Assembly with all three Senators and the House of Representatives members heading juicy Committees.

These litany of appointments into lofty positions in the National Assembly is an eloquent testimony of Senator Nwebonyi’s track records of leadership excellence, robust legislation and effective representation. His irrepressible voice has continued to resonate across the length and breadths of Nigeria pointing out grey areas that need to be fixed.

As I pray for more blessings, wisdom and divine unction on our tested and trusted lawmaker, I sincerely commend the President of the 10th Senate, His Excellency, Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio for spotting the sterling qualities of our principal and rewarding him with lofty positions of trust.
