Ondo State Acting Governor, Hon Lucky Aiyedatiwa has congratulated the overall best student from Ondo State in 2023 West African Senior School Certificate Examination, WASSCE, Miss Omoyeni Joy Folakemi, declaring that her feat was the consequence of hard-work, dedication and excellence.
The Acting Governor made the commendations while hosting the young champion, Miss Omoyeni Joy Folakemi in his office in Akure on Monday.
The Acting Governor alongside Secretary to the State Government, Princess Oladunni Odu, Head of Service, Pastor Kayode Ogundele, Commissioner of Education, Science and Technology, Pastor Femi Agagu, Special Adviser to Governor on Education, Dr (Mrs) Olawunmi Ilawole, Deputy Chief of Staff to Governor, Office of Acting Governor, Prince Segun Omojuwa, Press Secretary to Governor, Office of Acting Governor, Kenneth Odusola-Stevenson and Special Assistant to Governor on New Media, Ladi Okunniga received Miss Omoyeni Joy Folakemi who was accompanied by her father, Engr Victor Omoyeni and her mother, Mrs Aderonke Omoyeni, Telnet International Schools management team led by the Managing Director, Dr Kola Ariyo, Proprietress, Mrs Abimbola Ariyo, Principal, Dr Samuel Adeoye and Headmistress, Miss Janet Edet .
The 16-year old Omoyeni Joy Folakemi is Ipe-Akoko born brilliant Nigerian student of Telnet International Schools, Akure, Ondo State, aced all the nine subjects she registered for in the 2023 West African Senior School Certificate Examination, WASSCE.
She has just been declared as the overall best student in Ondo State as confirmed by WAEC and also one of JAMB top scorers in Nigeria in 2023.
Receiving her in his office, Aiyedatiwa said, “on behalf of Mr Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, CON, I welcome you to Ondo State Governor’s Office” .
“This rare privilege, as you know is consequent upon your excellent academic performance in the West African Senior School Certificate Examination, WASSCE… you did not only come out as the overall best student in WASSCE from Ondo State as duly certified by the examination body, you are also one of the top scorers in Joint Admission and Matriculation Board ( JAMB )”, he said.
Aiyedatiwa said the State Government desires is to always see her students and youths excell in all of their endeavours.
“We will continue as government to invest in education in terms of infrastructures and human capital development to guarantee good learning and greater performance” , he said.
While congratulating the champion, Aiyedatiwa also appreciated the parents for their support and investment on the young lady as he also applauded the management of Telnet International Schools for academically nurtured and prepared this young great talent.
In her speech, the champion, Miss Omoyeni Joy Folakemi was thankful to the state government for creating enabling environment for her to thrive.
She equally acknowledged the unflinching support from her parents and her school management.
Earlier, the Managing Director of Telnet International Schools, Dr Kola Ariyo said he was thrilled by the outstanding academic achievements of his students particularly, Miss Omoyeni Joy Folakemi, declaring that his investment in education was his own way of giving back to the society.
