An eight-year-old schoolgirl, Jin Nichole You, has been rescued after being abducted and confined within a suitcase by the family’s apartment caretaker, Godiflor Rama, in the Philippines.
The incident took place in the Bakilid district of Mandaue City, Cebu province at noon on Thursday when Jin was on her way back home, Daily Mail UK reports on Friday.
The alarm was raised when Jin Nichole did not return home as expected. Tyree Rendal, her mother, immediately turned to the apartment’s security cameras, when she saw an unidentified person donning a hoodie seen within the premises dragging a large black suitcase, which was suspected to be concealing the young girl.
Jin Nichole was discovered in a disheveled state but alive after the Mandaue City police received a report and tracked down to the suspect’s location to an apartment in the same district.Â
Rama, the suspect, revealed that although the young girl was attractive, he said his actions should not be mistaken for any ill intention while denying that he did not commit any sexual assault or misconduct on the girl.
Police authorities revealed that Rama had exploited his familiarity with Jin Nichole and her family to execute his plan.
Jin Nichole has been reunited with her mother and is now in recovery. Tyree thanked the police and investigators for acting swiftly while sharing her determination to pursue the legal proceedings to ensure justice for Jin Nichole.
