The Kano chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has issued a stern warning to the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) against any form of interference with the ongoing state Election Tribunal proceedings.
The spokesman for APC governorship (Gawuna/Gari) campaign council, Malam Muhammad Garba in a statement made available to newsmen in Abuja on Thursday, frowned at the attempt by the Kano state government to malign the Tribunal chairman for fear of what could be possibly the final judgment.
He accused the state government of a fictitious story quoting the tribunal chairman out of context, which amounts to disrespect for the judge and the judiciary in general.
APC alleged that the make-up story, which was contained in a statement issued by the state commissioner for information, Baba Halilu Dantiye, indicated that the government was trying to vilify the Tribunal before the judgment so as it draws sympathy from the unsuspecting public in the event it is defeated.
Garba stated that they filed an appeal while the Tribunal is still holding proceedings, insisting that government action will not stop the election petition tribunal from going on with its sittings until it delivers final judgment.
He stated that even with an apparent sign of victory on its side, the APC would never offer any bribe to anyone involved in the case considering that it has presented facts and figures to prosecute the matter before the tribunal.
Garba observed that while the APC had presented all its witnesses during the proceedings of the Tribunal who have been cross-examined, the NNPP government, he added, has failed to present any tangible wits to depend on its case.
The statement further emphasised that the action of the Kano state government was nothing but gimmickry and an attempt to also disparage the APC.
