A community group in Emure-ile, Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State, known as Emure-ile Future Pride Forum (Ankara Youth) has organized Outstanding Prizes for students in government-owned primary and secondary schools in the community.
The group said it has initiated and carried out the same project in the last eight years consecutively and envisions to encourage sound performances among the students and ace their brilliance while they are still young.
A total number of 18 students won various prizes across the three government-owned schools in the community, which includes the only public Secondary School in the community, Community Grammar School Emure-ile and the two public primary schools; Our Savior’s Anglican Primary School and The Apostolic Primary School, during their End of Term Ceremony/Valedictory Service.
However, in a statement signed by the Director of Media and Publicity of the group, Comrade. Tolulope Adeyefa&, the group advocated for intervention in creating a conducive learning environment for students in the community through provisions viable infrastructures and facilities.
The group stated that “it is exigent to call the attention of the government, our various community leaders, philanthropists and other well-meaning individuals and groups in the society to the need for revamping the only public secondary school in our community as well as the the two public primary schools.
“Evidently, during our visits to these schools, we observed that they are in bad state especially with the distasteful infrastructures. The learning environment is an indispensable factor that influences how students cope in their studies. As such, while we try as much as possible to make education accessible and affordable in government schools, we must as well make them conducive for learning, so that the sons and daughters of a common man can compete with their counterparts that are more privileged to attend private schools.
“We are making passionate appeal to the state government as well as stakeholders and well-meaning individuals in our community to invest in the future of our children through contribution to educational development”.
They also harped on the urgent need to reawaken and reignite the spirit of excellence among youngster in the community.
“We must reshape mindsets of our young boys and girls, and fuel their passion for success. They must come to the awareness that the role of education is sacrosanct. We are calling on parents especially to give their children the required attentions that are beneficial to their respective growth”.
The group reiterated its commitment to promoting various goals in the community.
“Ultimately, our association is very much committed to these lofty goals and more. We are also ready for collaborative partnerships where necessary to achieve shared goals in the community.
