The Federal polytechnic Ile-Oluji, students Union inaugurates it three arms of government in order to have an effective governance framework for the Union.
Comr. Alalade Abiola Achiever is the second elected student Union president of Fedpolel.
Below is his inauguration speech ;
Inaugural speech delivered by Comrade Alalade Abiola O. Achiever.
The Elected Students’ Union President of Federal Polytechnic Ile-Oluji, Ondo state on the 30th of May, 2023.
The Rector, the Deputy Rector, the Registrar, the Bursar, the Librarian, the Dean of Students Affairs, all the Deans of Faculties, the HODs, the ASUP and NASU representatives, the lecturers, the ever-sturdy NANS body, the OPSS representatives, my comrades in the battle, and the FEDPOLITES.
I am incredibly proud and humbled to address you today as the elected president of the Student Union Government. This moment is not just a mere accomplishment for me, but also a huge responsibility that I voluntarily take on in the name of our whole student population. I want to sincerely thank everyone who has put their faith in me and given me the wonderful opportunity to act as your representative.
I promise to promote an atmosphere where each student feels heard, appreciated, and represented in the name of unity of purpose. I strongly urge you all to actively contribute to the development of our polytechnic experience by sharing your thoughts, suggestions, and worries. As your elected leader, I equally assure you to pay close attention, communicate with empathy, and put in unrelenting effort to address the matters that are most important to you.
We all come from different origins, cultures, and academic fields, but we all share the same goal of making our campus a thriving center of learning, innovation, and personal development. This is something I want to emphasize.
Making sure that our academic experience is of the greatest caliber is one of my main objectives. To resolve any problems with the curriculum, facilities, or student support services, I will work closely with the polytechnic management. We will work to expand research opportunities, encourage innovation, and provide you the know-how and tools you need to succeed in your chosen professions.
Nevertheless, this administration has been in place for a few months, and throughout my time serving the entire student body, my executives and I have been able to accomplish several goals for the previous 155 days in office. Permit me to enumerate some, if not all, of these accomplishments.
Finally, my fellow FEDPOLITES, let’s set out on this path with hope, tenacity, and a strong sense of purpose.
The Students’ Union website will be launched and unveiled by our amiable Rector today. The website includes a section for past questions across all departments and this will stand as a tool to curb and tackle mass failure by preparing for the examination. When I ran for office, I pledged to create a website where students can access relevant academic materials like past questions and solutions to those questions in order to tackle mass failure. I am happy to inform everyone that this promise has been fulfilled.
As we go about our Academic activities, let’s follow the norms and regulations of the school authority and keep our attention on our main goal of studentship. Avoid cultism, examination malpractice, sexual harassment, and indecent dressing on campus. Let’s all work to develop our key principles, which are Teamwork, Integrity, Creativity and Innovation, and Accountability. In addition, I would like the entire FEDPOLITES should anticipate for our upcoming programmes which includes but not limited to the followings-
- Construction of 100 seaters student pavilion.
- Construction of FEDPOLELSU notice board
- Construction of student recreational centres
- Construction of Student Union building
- Light up Mega among others.
Conclusively, if truly the value of life is recognition and appreciation, I will be an ingrate if I fail to appreciate my amazing mother Pastor (Mrs) C.O. Olutunde who has been my backbone and microfinance bank over the years, my families, Papa Pastor Yomi Olutunde, Kashamadupe group of men, Liberal Movement, Mr. Francis Adenisimi, Honorable Akinsuroju Nelson (Nelson Dollar) MHA. Ile-oluji, my ever supportive HOD Engr. Mrs. Oyediji and other amiable lectures in my department, my father and mentor Engr. Iwayemi, my leader Comr. Omuiyadun Ahmed, Dr. Akinferesoye (HOD Agric tech), ISEC and everyone for your unblemished solidarity, you forever own a special place in my heart!
Thank you once again for the trust you have placed in me. Together, let us make this academic year a time of growth, unity, and memorable accomplishments. Let all hands be on deck to make FEDPOLEL great as an adage says, “A single tree cannot make a forest”
