“The news of the demise of our late King, Oba Lawrence Babajide is undoubtedly a great loss to his family and the entire people of Okeigbo Kingdom. His passage to the world beyond has created an empty vacuum that may be very difficult to refill.
“Oba Babajide rulership as the 17th Ruler and 6th Oluoke of Okeigbo Kingdom was a very short one having barely spent five years in his reign before joining his ancestors. However,as short his reign on the throne, Kabiyesi unequaled himself as a pacesetter and unifying force. The kingdom witnessed unprecedented progress and massive growth.
Hon. Akinfolarin described the late Oba Babajide as a peaceful, benevolent, ebullient and patriotic King.
“My relationship with late Oba Babajide was like that of a father and son. He loved me greatly and was a great impetus to the achievements I recorded as a representative of the good people of Ile-oluji/Okeigbo and Odigbo Federal Constituency, being a great advisor.
His reign was peaceful and brought unity to the kingdom. He loved his people and the kingdom, and strived relentlessly to achieve unprecedented development ranging from infrastructural, social, economic and cultural growth.
“His reign will also forever be remembered for bringing promotion of Okeigbo Kingdom to the rank of First Class monarch in Ondo State”.
