The Kashere ward of the All Progressives Congress in Gombe State has expelled former Governor Danjuma Goje over alleged anti-party activities.
Goje is a serving senator representing Gombe Central and Senator-elect under the platform of the APC.
The PUNCH had earlier reported that Goje was expected to face a five-man committee on an investigation into his alleged anti-party activities with a two-week timeframe for the committee to complete its report.
Others also investigated and later expelled in the state include: Member representing Yalmatu Deba Federal Constituency, Yunusa Abubakar, and a senator representing Gombe South, Bulus Amos.
Announcing the resolution of the ward on Tuesday, Chairman Tanimu Abdullahi said the decision was following the various petitions on alleged anti-party activities against Goje, which had not been favourably answered.
He disclosed that the committee served a notice of invitation to Goje to answer the charges against him in the spirit of fair hearing.
Abdullahi said, βIn the course of investigations, the committee has deliberated on the following allegations against Senator Goje: Failure to attend the flag-off of the Gombe State APC campaign rally in Gombe which was led by the National Chairman of our great party, Senator Abdullahi Adamu.
βFailure to attend the Tinubu-Shettima presidential rally in Gombe which was attended by the President-elect Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and the Vice President-elect, Senator Kashim Shettima
βFailure to attend all APC campaign rallies and tours in Gombe, including the one in his own Gombe Central senatorial zone, Akko federal constituency, state assembly and ward unit.β
He noted the activities that were in breach of Article 21, Section A, subsection ii, iii, vi and vii of the APC constitution, saying that, βSenator Muhammadu Goje is no longer a member of the APC in Kashere ward, and by extension, in Gombe State and Nigeria.β
Efforts to get the reaction of Goje proved abortive as he was yet to respond to a text message sent to his line as of the time of filing this report.
Meanwhile, in an exparte injunction instituted at the Federal High Court Abuja, dated April 17, 2023, against Kashere ward chairman Abdullahi and the APC, which was obtained by our correspondent, Goje urged the court to direct the respondents to stay all actions in the suit βpending the hearing and determination of the originating motion on notice.β
