Ahead 2024 election in Edo State, ambassador Dr. Odion Cedrick has shown interest in contesting in the forthcoming election in Edo.
Amb. Odion who expressed his displease with the situation of things, how they are been manage and control in the state said, we can both have a better Edo State where we will be proud to call our home.
In an statement sent to Peoplesmind, Dr . Odion highlighted major areas he will be working more when emerge, it reads;
MY VISIONS FOR NEW EDO STATE 2024 (Dr. Odion Cedrick Okpeholo, AMB (OCO))
IF ELECTED IN 2024, MY SIX MAIN AGENDAS FOR THE STATE
ARE AS FOLLOWS:
1. TO CONVERT INTERNAL REVENUE (IGR) INTO SOCIAL WELFARE BENEFITS FOR THE STATE’S LESS PRIVILEGED CITIZENS.
2. TO PROVIDE 24 HOURS ELECTRICITY IN THE STATE BY BRINGING IN FOREIGN INDEPENDENT ELECTRICITY PROVIDER TO POWER THE STATE
3. TO INDUSTRIALISE EDO STATE BY BRINGING IN FOREIGN INVESTORS.
4. FREE, QUALITY AND COMPULSORY EDUCATION TO ALL.
5. TO BUILD INTERNATIONAL STANDARDS INFRASTRUCTURES AND MEDICAL CENTRES IN THE STATE.
6. TO PROVIDE ADEQUATE SECURITY IN THE STATE.
In other to actualize a better Edo for us all,.the minimum wage for civil officials’ salaries will increase by 100% each month, to N60, 000. To get to N100,000 as quickly as possible is the goal. Every civil servant will be covered by this, even street sweepers.
-I will embark on moral persuasion to convince the organized private sectors to end casualization and raise their minimum pay to a living wage in order to follow the government’s example.
Using PAY tax credits, significant national corporations such as banks, oil firms, multinational corporations, etc. will be encouraged to end casualization and index their minimum salary to their ability to pay rather than the existing market wage rates that are being constrained by rising unemployment. This is the first step in Edo State’s plan to provide health care, pensions, and similar benefits to every employee.
• I will establish a large-scale financing program for micro, small, and medium-sized businesses. In the first 100 days, guarantee at least 10,000 beneficiaries. In four years, we anticipate that the program will help up to 2 million beneficiaries.
• Create a portal where the costs of all government projects are published and compared to World Bank standards in order to eradicate corruption and waste.
• I will organize summit with domestic and international manufacturers, private investors, and business leaders who agree to construct and invest in Edo State with a sound plan to add 50% more value in five years.
• To begin the process of redefining teaching as a middle-class vocation, I will advertise for the employment of 10,000 instructors with outstanding grades (First Class and Second Upper or Upper Credit).
• I will sign a Memorandum of Understanding with the Road Transport Unions to undertake programs for rehabilitation and retraining.
• I will organize an education conference with all relevant parties and foreign organizations to gain support for collaborations to upgrade public schools to the level of the greatest private institutions
• I will organize a health summit with all interested parties and foreign organizations to gain support for collaborations to upgrade services at Primary Health Centers to the best-in-class level, setting the groundwork for a successful referral system.
• I will organize a summit on job creation for various artisan groups, including those for carpenters, plumbers, mechanics, welders, tailors, and other technicians, with the goal of developing a procedure for their certification and granting them access to small loans Etc.
• I will organize a security summit with stakeholders to address concerns with insecurity in order to safeguard people’s lives and property in Edo State.
• I will also develop a comprehensive frame work for Steady electricity power supply
• I will establish guidelines to allow any investors who meet the basic requirements access to the transportation routes.
• I will establish a scheme encouraging all willing investors to make large-scale investments in public transportation.
• I will embark on r a new waste management system that will segregate household waste from organic, paper, and plastic waste as a first step in creating a top-notch system for turning waste into biogas and fertilizer. — Boost Edo State’s agricultural output.
• I will provide standardized markets so that marketers can work independently and also provide young people with employment opportunities.
• In order to create a world-class system for converting garbage into biogas and fertilizer, provide guidelines for a new waste management system that separates waste from houses into paper, plastic, and organic waste.
• Publication of guidelines for a new waste management system that will separate organic, paper, and plastic garbage from household waste as a first step toward the development of a top-notch system for converting waste into biogas and fertilizer in order to improve Edo State’s agricultural system
• I will embark on a comprehensive reconstruction of affordable rental apartments in government housing projects
• I will also embark on the emergency building renovation in 100 primary and secondary institutions.
• I will equally construct and renovate 100 inner roads, drainages, and streetlights throughout Edo State’s local governments.
I’m committed to moving Edo State toward first-world status in my tenure. After the first year in office, hold me responsible.
