One of the 276 female students abducted by Boko Haram insurgents from a government owned secondary school in Chibok, Borno State in April 2014 has been rescued.Yana Pogu was rescued on Thursday together with her four children by the troops of the Nigerian Army under Operation Hadin Kai.
A report by Zagazola, a publication focused on counter-insurgency operations in the Lake Chad region, said the troops rescued Pogu and her children, including a set of twins delivered about four months ago, after killing an unspecified number of Boko Haram terrorists.
The troops, backed by a column of Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), were said to have achieved the feat after storming the enclave of the terrorist group in Bula Dawo axis in Bama Local Government Area, Borno State.
An intelligence source told Zagazola that the troops engaged and overwhelmed the insurgents, neutralising scores of terrorists in the process while several others escaped with fatal gunshot wounds.
