It was another gale of victory for the Governor-Elect of Osun State, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke as a petition filed by the Young Progressives Congress against his victory in the July 16 governorship election, YPP, has been withdrawn by the petitioner. The withdrawal process started when counsels to the petitioner, formally announced before the election petition tribunal, discontinuation of their appearance in the case as instructed by the national office of the the YPP.
The discontinuation of appearance of the counsels was swifly followed by a formal letter of withdrawal of the petition by the State Chairman of YPP, Comrade Remi Ayanlade as filed by the party against the PDP victory.
The tribunal, after taking due diligence of the requests, struck out the petition in it’s entirety as requested.
Reacting to the development, Osun State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Dr Akindele Adekunle, described the withdrawal of the petition as a welcome development, as all hands must be on deck by genuine stakeholders in the state for betterment of the people.
Dr Akindele said that any petition against the Governorship Election as conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission in the state would end ultimately in the waste bins of history, as the election was one of the most credible in recent memories.
The PDP Chairman therefore enjoined the people of the state to remain law abiding in their daily conduct as the state awaits the swearing-in of the the state Governor-Elect, Senator Nurudeen Jackson Ademola Adeleke.
