…….. aiming for attendance record Baseball fans, start your engines
Major League Baseball announced on Friday that NASCAR’s Bristol Motor Speedway will host its first MLB regular-season game next year. Scheduled for August 2, 2025, the game will feature the Atlanta Braves against the Cincinnati Reds and will mark the first in-season MLB game held in Tennessee.
MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred expressed excitement about celebrating the game with fans and showcasing Tennessee’s sports and community traditions.
With a seating capacity nearing 150,000, the Bristol Motor Speedway is set to potentially break the MLB single-game attendance record. The current record stands at 115,300, set during a 2008 exhibition game at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.
MLB has been expanding to new and unconventional venues, including military bases and iconic locations like the “Field of Dreams,” and plans to continue this trend with international games in cities such as Tokyo and Paris in the 2025 season. Bristol Motor Speedway has hosted notable non-NASCAR events, including an NFL exhibition game in 1961 and the “Battle at Bristol” NCAA football game in 2016, which drew a record crowd of 156,990.
