AN 11-year-old boy has been arrested by cops after he was found behind the wheel of a BMW SUV towing a suspected stolen caravan along a major motorway.
Police were left shocked after discovering a child behind the wheel of the BMW X5 as he headed down the M1, near Leeds, West Yorkshire, while pulling the motorhome.
Officers were told yesterday at 3.30pm that a caravan had been taken from a holiday site near Thirsk, North Yorkshire, by someone driving the black luxury vehicle.
And they then tracked down the BMW, which was also using cloned registration plates, as it headed South on the Al.
Officers managed to track a BMW that they say was using cloned plates and within 45 minutes of the caravan being reported as stolen, they ‘stopped the vehicle on the M1 after it left the A1 at Hook Moor Interchange near Garforth.
After searching, police found a number of vehicle registration plates, as well as other equipment that’s typically used to carry out thefts.

But they were stunned when they pulled open the driver’s door to find the young schoolboy sitting at the wheel of the powerful motor.
They arrested the boy on a number of offences, including theft, burglary and dangerous driving.
The boy has now been released on conditional bail while an investigation into the suspected theft takes place.
