Troops of the Nigerian Army have intercepted an 18-year-old, Michael Atanda, and a 58-year-old, Adigun Olatunji, attempting to smuggle 296 wraps of suspected cannabis into the country.
The arrest occurred at the Balogun border in Ogun State based on credible intelligence.
The suspects, residing in Benin Republic, were transporting the illicit substance from Benin Republic through Ilara border communities en route to Ifo, Ogun State.
The troops rejected a N12 million bribe offered by the syndicate.
The suspects, along with recovered items, were taken into custody for further actions, highlighting the transnational nature of the drug trafficking operation.
