As the coast gets clearer for 2023 poll, the Executive Governor of Oyo State, ‘Seyi Makinde has begun the refund of nomination fees to aspirants in the Primaries of the People’s Democratic Party. This is a fulfilment of his promise to the aspirants.
The Governor announced this during a townhall meeting he held in Oyo town, to herald his re-election campaign.
Most of the aspirants stood down during the last Primaries of the Peoples Democratic Party in the Oyo State.
Governor Makinde had insisted that aspirants for all the Senatorial, House of Representatives and State House of Assembly positions emerge through a consensus.
Some aspirants that jostled for various seats in the Primaries of the party, in May were then convinced to step down, based on the consensus arrangement brokered by Governor Makinde.
The party had pegged the cost of form for its Senate seat at N3.5 million, House of Representatives, N2.5 million and State House of Assembly N600,000 each.
Governor Seyi Makinde and the Party during the process, had convinced some aspirants to step down.
In fulfilment of his promise, the Governor called out names of aspirants and an immediate refund of their nomination form fees.
This was met by applause by party stakeholders in the meeting, who commended the Governor’s kind act.
