-Paul Ibe, Media Adviser to Atiku Abubakar, criticized the Senate for sacking Danladi Umar, former Chairman of the Code of Conduct Tribunal, for gross misconduct while ignoring calls to remove INEC Chairman, Prof Mahmood Yakubu.
-Ibe accused Yakubu of being highly corrupt, labeling him as holding a “gold medal” in corruption, surpassing Umar in alleged misconduct.
-Following the 2023 elections, many Nigerians, human rights activists, and opposition parties have called for Yakubu’s removal, accusing him of colluding with the APC to rig the elections.
-Ibe questioned why the Senate, which acted decisively in Umar’s case, has failed to address widespread demands for Yakubu’s dismissal despite allegations of gross partisanship.
-In his post, Ibe condemned Yakubu’s role in the elections and urged the Senate to take similar action against the INEC Chairman, as it did with Umar.
