As Hurricane Helene approaches, utility crews from across the United States are mobilizing to assist Florida residents with cleanup and power restoration efforts. By Wednesday afternoon, hundreds of utility company trucks are expected to fill the parking lots at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, ready to deploy as soon as conditions improve post-storm.
Crews, including thousands of tree trimmers and bucket trucks from as far away as Ohio, are on their way to help repair storm damage and restore power safely.
Safety remains the top priority during this preparation.
“We stage these folks far enough from the storm so they’re safe,” explained Ana Gibbs of Duke Energy Florida.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis reported that nearly 18,000 linemen are already in place, with more crews en route to assist.
