Nigerian musician Okikiola Badmus, widely recognized as Portable and known for his controversial reputation, has been held at the Oke Kura Correctional Centre in Ilorin, Kwara State. This follows his inability to fulfill the strict bail conditions imposed by an Upper Area Court in the state.
This comes after Portable’s court appearance on Monday, where he faced defamation of character charges brought against him by veteran Fuji musician Akorede Saheed, popularly known as Saheed Osupa.
The singer’s legal issues arise from accusations that he made derogatory comments about Osupa, which Osupa claims have damaged his reputation.
The ‘zazoo-zeh’ singer was granted bail set at N1 million, with additional strict conditions including the requirement to provide two guarantors for the same amount.
As per the court’s directive, one surety must be either the Chairman or Secretary of the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria. The other must own property within a Government Reserved Area in Ilorin and provide a valid Certificate of Occupancy as proof.
