Ecobank Nigeria has unveiled an art installation titled ‘Kong in a Cage’ by artist Toyeeb Ajayi, now on display at the Ecobank Pan African Centre in Lagos. The installation, created entirely from recycled materials, highlights the bank’s commitment to sustainability. Ecobank has previously supported environmental efforts, including the ‘Get Cash for Plastic Bottles’ campaign, which removed over four million plastic bottles from Lagos, and tree-planting initiatives.
Bolaji Lawal, Managing Director/Regional Executive of Ecobank Nigeria, emphasized that the installation reflects the bank’s ongoing dedication to sustainability, environmental protection, and promoting Nigerian artists. He also noted that the initiative aims to provide a global platform for emerging Nigerian artists, particularly in sustainability-focused art.
Ajayi explained that ‘Kong in a Cage’ serves as a commentary on environmental sustainability, using recycled materials to provoke conversations about the relationship between humanity and nature. The installation will be open to the public on weekends.
