Residents of Jenta Adamu, located in the Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State, have lynched several suspected cult members who were allegedly terrorizing the community.
The incident occurred on Friday morning when the suspects, believed to be cultists, attempted to rob residents of their possessions. According to Plateau State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, Alfred Alabo, a distress call alerted the police at around 9:20 a.m. about the cult members’ attempt to commit robbery in the area.
The police swiftly responded, and the Commissioner of Police directed officers from the “A” Division in Jos to investigate the situation. Upon arrival, law enforcement officials discovered that an enraged mob had taken matters into their own hands, capturing the suspected cultists, lynching them, and setting their bodies on fire.
The police, in coordination with the leadership of Jos North Local Government Area, recovered the burnt bodies and transported them to the hospital morgue. During their investigation, officers also found two locally fabricated pistols, believed to belong to the suspects.
